Whether you're based in the Triangle area of North Carolina or you're arriving here in a dead heat, we would like to be your rental house of choice. Here's some background information on our company: We began renting production equipment in 1981, starting with a single O'Conner 50 tripod. Now, we've grown considerably in staff and inventory. Major motion pictures are out of our league but we do service smaller features, commercials and many other projects. We were the first in the state to offer Kinoflo lights, Chimera softbanks, Mole beam projectors, Aaton XTR cameras and many other items. Harris-Chewning, Inc. is located in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Chapel Hill is home to the University of North Carolina and part of the "triangle" of Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill. Also part of this burgeoning region are Cary and the Research Triangle Park. The RTP is renowned as one of the most prestigious corporate and educational research communities in the world. Chapel Hill is in easy driving distance to the "Triad" (Greensboro, High Point, Winston-Salem) in the west and, to the east, Rocky Mount and Wilson. We're just a short distance from the Virginia state line. Both of the primaries, Suzanne Harris and Alton Chewning, have been a part of the North Carolina production scene since 1978. Alton works as a director of photography for features, commercials and documentaries. Suzanne is H-C's rental manager, but worked a number of years in production as a location sound recordist.
